329. Media Culture in Equal Money Capitalism

A softer modality of imperialism exists in the seemingly innocent way we entertain ourselves, an ever expansive desire-driven consumerist empire in the instant-image world where everyone aims to be a star and ignore the reality that implodes in every second of our supersized glamourized lifestyles.

Problem

In cultural studies, media culture refers to the current western capitalist society that emerged and developed from the 20th century, under the influence of mass media.Media culture is associated with consumerism, and in this sense called alternatively “consumer culture.”

– Jansson, André (2002) The Mediatization of Consumption, Journal of Consumer Culture, March 2002 vol. 2 no. 1 5-31

Soft Imperialism by Culture and Media

The reason why it is important to be aware of  Neo-Colonialism as the deployment of massive consumerist propaganda by Multi National Corporations  is because there is no regulation from government or any other institution that decides ‘what is acceptable to offer’ to people to buy.  This is the ideological imperialism that we have adopted under the name of culture, fashion, music, arts, the  ideas of humanity ‘evolving’ somehow through the changes in images, pictures, artifacts, technologies, internet, audiovisual arts – yet, what we consume is precisely an outflow of an ideological apparatus that leads us to continually seek  have the experiences reproduced in our TV shows, movies, street ads, the ‘values’ that our celebrities represent –  but it is only yet another vulgar display of power wherein we learn to idolize and venerate people that make millions while telling people to ‘be free’ and unlimited’ and ‘seek their own happiness/ follow your dreams!’ and all this positive outlook toward life wherein there is not a single consideration of inducing people to question the system, why not? Because that would simply lead people to stop consuming and actually re-consider what is it that we are really ‘living’ for nowadays, wherein one learns that buying clothes, going to parties, seeking to get high, get drunk every Friday night and then repeat after 24 hours is our idea of freedom.

Our freedom and ‘right to life’ has been sold by our  governments who have become only the ‘executers’ of corporate desires to justify the intervention, subjugation, coercion  and injection of culture and ideology around the globe,  which is also a vital aspect to consider here since that is what is ever present in any country where entertainment is also an export from the United States, becoming part of our dear globalized forms of entertainment in our digital era.

I would dare to say this is quite a ‘glamorously disguised’ form of imperialism seen as ‘benevolent’ due to its ability to infiltrate and install within individuals an entire ideological  and moral conditioning as a new  engineered lifestyle based on consumerism sold as entertainment – movies, TV series, cartoons, commercials, news networks, advertising and marketing campaigns,  wherein all that we ‘learn’ is to enhance individualism, the sense of specialness and personal enhancement through acquiring products that make us feel like the stars on TV, create a general ‘good feeling’ about what we see and that makes us feel like we want to have the same clothes, hair, looks, attitude, perspective about life and in general, have a Lot of money to buy all of that and more.

It is also difficult to gauge the level of diffusion or control it, since it mostly exits in the form of websites, audiovisuals that are salable and accessible for a very small amount of money – or non at all -covering the walls and billboards in our cities, on every TV screen and popular media that is accessible even to those that have little to no money in our current societies. The same goes for the actors within such industry such as celebrities, music/musicians, unfortunately arts  that have also become another form of propaganda wherein post-modernism states that ‘anything goes’  and our true art has become only the reflection of our own decadence in terms of lacking any form of common sensical values to promote a self responsible human being; instead we’re shaping our minds and the minds of our children from the moment they are placed in front of a TV as life-long partner wherein we develop our special needs and desires every single day that we don’t realize how we are adopting the way we think, speak and behave from the people on the screen, and we like it.  This is the corporate capitalist principle, the candy given to the kid so that it keeps coming back for more and basing our entire economic, political and social structures in order to feed the profit motive, nothing more and nothing less.

The ideas of a luxurious home, a perfected body image, the ideal attitude that can ‘trump’ everyone else, being always fresh and ready to ‘break the rules and break free,’ get the latest trend clothes, buy the latest car, the biggest house, through the wildest party, consume exorbitant amount of drugs and alcohol and you shall be Free.

What no one realizes is how it is the most Perfect way to maintain individuals occupied with how we look, how we feel about our bodies, each other, our relationships – sex/love – seeking ways to have more money so that we can continue enhancing this image that must be ‘the best’ and most-expensive look to get the most respect and become a celebrity for a day. King for a day, fool for a lifetime of chasing the ideal image that was only ‘ideal’ the moment it became the standard one in our TV screens and magazines.

Our ‘stars’ have become the spokespeople to advocate a society of glamour, grandeur, rebellion, an ‘anything goes’ attitude, of ‘whatevers’ and nevermind the human decay, where great apathy for any social matters is embedded, making it an ‘uncool’ thing to be aware of, no one wants to see misery, to read what people ‘far away’ are going through,  everyone wants to feel good, to be happy and perpetuate the idealized perfection in image and ‘soul,’ learning that guarding your Nation’s security is part of your good deeds to get the most of this life and hopefully get a piece of Heaven to continue avoiding to see the actual hell that is avoided in bubbles of feel good experiences.

Solution

Letting go of these ingrained images, desires, wants and needs is going to be an arduous job, more so than implementing a single policy at a political level. We are talking about the images, stories, sounds that fill our lives every single day. I can speak from my perspective where music filled my days and how it felt like dying the moment I stopped making of music and the cult of artists an addiction to escape from the world.

We have to support each other to develop enough awareness about everything that we have consumed with no awareness, the reasons we have equated ourselves to the clothes that we wear, the shoes that we use, the way we do our hair, valuing the food according to the cost of it instead of the nutritional aspects of it – valuing friends according to how we look with them instead of developing actual communication skills, valuing a brand over the realization of the people that have no option in life but to be a slave to confection our ‘perfect clothes.’ We all wear sweatshop abuse made in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia and China,  we cannot possibly  keep ignoring the dark side of our beloved beautiful people where all wealth has been built upon abuse.

We  have to re-evaluate what our media will be used for. We will still have TV shows, fashion, music, movies, etc. and they will in fact play yet another great role in promoting living values that have not been present yet, because no one wants to actually make people re-consider the world, because that would breed a major awakening in our society, destabilizing the feel-good bubbles of our experiences   – however we will have to let artists and media people know about a new set of considerations to be implemented within everything that they do. It will be like a ‘green revolution’ though this won’t only mean caring for the environment, but also the entire way we think, and conceive reality as ourselves, how we treat each other, what they write about in songs, how they present themselves, what they buy, their private wants, needs and desires that will certainly have to be re-evaluated once that wealth in such display is what drives people to seek to make the most money in order to be ‘just like their favorite star.’

New values that honor life will have to be embodied, written and spoken about  by those that one professed the opposite, that life was all about buying and consuming images that have to be bought and experienced.

The solution will have to be implemented in multiple levels in our society as explained in the blog 317. Equality in Equal Money Capitalism wherein we would have to proceed to use the Media as a means to educate, inculcate the principles of life in equality, giving as you would like to receive, understanding that Life is not an unlimited journey to pursue happiness but a physical expression to learn how to coexist and enjoy oneself and our relationships with others in our families, education, work and general social endeavors that benefit the majority, it is the reinsertion of the communal sense of belonging by physical interaction rather than mind stimulation, it will be the integration of a physical lifestyle that we have been so alienated of by staring at screens endless hours a day. It will be a communal effort to implement living values and expressions that will develop in consequence what is best for all life.

Rewards

Integrity, dignity, self respect, honor, justice, people that learn to stand equal to who we really are as equals instead of honoring images and starving oneself or over feeding a body that will not be reduced to an image, but will exist as the physical that confirms our existence, we are alive and our actual freedom of choice will exist when we stop feeding our minds with values of ‘who we have to be’ according to values acquired at a global level.

Life after God, Life after Money as a cult in itself will mean the redesign of life as a living principle, a deliberate act of instigating an interest to become a living example of an honorable being that doesn’t only serve a nation or lives up to perpetuating a perfect self-image, this is about embodying for the first time an actual living acceptance, a consideration of each other as equals and not rivals to compete against in dreams of specialness and glamour – of fastest gadgets, trips, clothes, jewels, cars, houses, giant wardrobes but a single consideration that Life is a physical living act of coexisting wit everyone as equals, Not being any longer a coin-operated consumer bot in the name of happiness.

The ability to give an end to this soft-imperialistic tactic of the ideal American lifestyle resides within each one of us: honoring life instead of the ego.

This is DESTENI – the Culture of Life

‘Born Free’–Warfare on your MTV– Day 19

I watched this video by M.I.A Born Free when it came out almost two years ago after I had spent one year ‘out of the matrix’ and Lady Gaga was only a repeated image I would glance at magazines while paying for groceries at Pick & Pay and mainstream music was only background music for shopping. I didn’t write at the time about the experience that it was coming back into the world and finding videos like this one or the ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ of which I made a reference about in a vlog I made, simply because it seemed like the age of cynicism had arrived and ‘made cool for everyone.’

I was a music video sucker-fan – the 90’s era – so I grew up watching MTV at the time where desolated kids with whining grungy guitars, passive-aggressive style, shoe gazers and violent femmes taking the stage – then it got a bit more ‘pumped up’ when electronica and some other genres started emerging,  then I lost all interest on it and eventually stopped watching that. I mean, I’ve watched a great amount of videos as I spent like over 10 years of my life being really stuck at it, and I had not seen anything similar to M.I.A’s  ‘Born Free’ video – hence the  ‘special mention’ here. I must clarify I have been fairly disconnected about the ‘new stuff’ and video making and marketing lately, yet the stuff that I have seen lately is entirely driven by sex, big eyes, pink-pop plastic all over and zingy sounds that make you cringe out of the obvious repetition.

I am aware you could watch these images in any R-Rated movie or even PG-13 these days, I’m not really aware of the levels of violence they allow for a 13 year old now considering the video games they and younger kids play. However, the point is that such message/ level of violence for an intended MTV hit is rather chocking considering the various topics it depicts with the obvious title which is quite a cool way to mock the state of any country in this world wherein our constitutions claim ‘all men are created equal and free’ yet living the exact same opposite.

We are still living under tyrant systems that we have created, accepted and allowed as humanity, always ‘at war,’ and it seems to me that this piece of what could be labeled as motion shock art is the depiction of the same desensitizing process that has been ongoing as violence, war, abuse and national home-security policies are made part of your primetime regular cable TV programming.

See, the point to look at here is how this message might be interpreted by the viewer. To me within a ‘critical perspective,’  it is an allusion to the obvious stupidity that war represents wherein a group is targeted only by a particular skin color, religion, culture, haunting them down and waging war against them until all fall down – yes ‘Ring around the Rosie’ was not exactly a ‘bright’ theme for a nursery rhyme – yet the point is still being missed here for a real exposure than the obvious violence that war produces: M-O-N-E-Y.

M.I.A. seems to also just make videos and music for the sake of money – here’s another one of her videos Paper Planes which is a rather catchy tune where you can only hear the chorus with gun shots and cashier register sounds to find out what it’s all about while repeating  ‘All I wanna do is (afore mentioned sounds)  and Take your Money!’ Therefore, what’s missing here is the Actual important message which is: the acceptance of war as a way to regenerate economy = war is all about money and so is M.I.A. apparently.

Does the end justify the means?

Now, this writing is not to create the usual discord used in any criticism toward society – this is just dissecting a bit of our reality to do some critical thinking – out of our box – and realizing what the hell we are watching on TV and what the hell is most likely to become a ‘jingle’ in a child’s ear. It’s already enough for me having to see how difficult it is to trade some hide and seek game in order to stop having kids playing with toy guns pretending to kill each other. Now, watching such videos/ hearing the lyrics, it’s realizing that we are digging our own hole when it comes to the indoctrination that happens through TV – not to mention the entire industry dedicated to sell toys to children which is another topic in itself. This is about me placing myself as a 7 year old watching MTV but within the contemporary context wherein I would have probably grown a hard veneer to watch M.I.A’s video and accept it as ‘okay,’ just as I accepted as ‘okay’ any explicit sexual content in videos as well as any other implied or explicit depictions of self abuse, which eventually became my ‘visual culture’ while growing up.

What did I develop? yes, sir, some type of lugubrious fascination because hey, that was cool to watch and made me different, seemed to shock people and I wanted to stand out of the crowd so – why the hell not liking this and going for that which initially scared me, then embracing it as a part of ‘what I like’/ ‘who I am’ – more or less in the fashion of how you unite your enemy if you can’t fight against it. I could write pages about other videos that created an impact in a similar way and that are regular cultural clichés of what was eventually banned or seen at late night hours on MTV like Prodigy’s Smack my bitch up. I remember being quite astonished at seeing what was made a ‘music video,’ and I mean even skeletons having sex in the toilet of a club in the Chemical Brothers’ video Hey boy hey girl made a significant imprint within me and my conception about reality and ‘fun.’ Virtually any video that contained explicit allusions to sex, violence, or a bizarre mix of it was too shocking for my eyes because of being a child (!)  I eventually made myself ‘used to it,’ then forgetting about what had been once shocking or ‘unacceptable’ to portray in a music video: my morals were ‘expanded’ which is why these type of videos are being made acceptable – repeat: being made acceptable.

Now, when/ while watching such videos I had some fairly cool ‘grounds’ wherein I learned how to be a bit critical about it and just take it for what it is – but what about every other kid that may watch these videos nowadays and want to live out just what they see on their screen? What about watching some bizarre Lady Gaga video or M.I.A’s Born Free or singing along to Paper Planes along with the obvious sounds that are implying killing for money?

What I do see is that if people/ kids/ teenagers watch this video and again grow a hard veneer to be able to ‘handle it,’ in a few years time, snuff movies and public executions will probably become part of your regular MTV Hitlist and I am concerned about it – why? Because I was once that kid that was 7 years old and got exposed to stuff that made me miss  out my entire childhood – not to blame anyone, of course – it is a simple realization of becoming aware of what the hell is being accepted as ‘entertainment,’ while trying to be edgy/ controversial which is what sells very well nowadays.

Question is, who on Earth financed such video? It seems like a short film to me and not any regular Hype Williams type of green screen studio production – it took a lot of money and seems more like specific propaganda to, once again, make controversial juicy materials that can be equally appraised as masterpieces or plain terrorism.

I ask a simple question beyond the transgressive obvious attempt of the video: would it exist if Money was not a motivation – from all angles that you can view it – to make it/ produce it?

Are we accepting something something that is inherently depicting the obvious violence and abuse in this world as part of our edgy and cool controversial videos as that which we can  incorporate within our ‘visual culture’ and make it okay for us to just see it as some part of ‘human evolution’ to watch explicit sex, female objectification, expressing the desire for All the power while portraying semi-god self-portrayals with all the gold as the cultivation of greed and desire for money as the perfect heavenly realms where ‘beautiful women’ are all around?

If we really want to evolve as humanity, we have to stop supporting everything that is pointing out  to praise money, power, heavenly existences, war, violence and sex alike as mere ways to ‘escape from reality’ – which is what entertainment actually is –  and start looking at what the fuck is being allowed as your regular TV programming on a music channel.

There’s plenty of points to take on from here like movies, video games, public advertisement, TV commercials which can be an entire realm of indoctrination in itself for the visual/sound/motion effect it contains – as well as the rest of open source/ god’s will access anyone has to unimaginable content on the internet that I will probably end up coming as ‘too short’ to name only a few of it, I’m sure you can imagine it – picture your worst case scenario of finding a photo about in the internet and I’m almost certain that Google god will bring it up to you at the click of your left button.

I am not willing to accept this video as something revolutionary as it’s only what it is: part of an entire machinery of brainwashing that takes place in your regular music video channels that are forming the seemingly non-existent children that are currently being exposed to extreme levels of violence that become part of their every day screenings at home, eventually becoming the perfect enlisted soldiers for the army.

Pop Culture is the Doom of the Nation

For now there is a plethora of things to say about this – and this is just the beginning in terms of what we are accepting and allowing to be made ‘popular’ and part of ‘pop culture’ within our world and society.

This is not about being a puritan and coming from a moral perspective of what’s right or wrong,  but rather an opening to look at the unethical aspect that is being induced in all things entertainment – not to mention the so-called reality TV shows that are also another topic in itself when it comes to what sells today on regular people that spend several hours in front of their TV screens.  This is about finding out/ becoming aware of what is currently being integrated as images that are kept for a lifetime within a child’s mind. I can speak from my own experience about shocking stuff that I’d watch on TV and eventually became used to or even keen to watch – yet every time I glance through what’s being broadcasted or made popular, I see that the envelope is being deliberately pushed further and further and that’s where some critical questions must be asked: who/ what is behind this? Is it that we are the ones setting the new ‘targets of allowance’ every time to take our levels of excitement and entertainment a ‘notch up’?

I’ve tried not to react when watching such stuff within the criticism of me being a puritan, but every time that I see a little girl singing to an obvious song about hooking up with boys to have sex, it is my duty as a human being to strike a chat with them to get to know what they think about the song and if they have any idea of what the hell they are singing to.

We must stop considering the lascivious eyes that pay well for entertainment and start considering the ones that also have access to a remote control at the tips of their little fingers at home.

If we tolerate this, then your children will be next – Manic Street Preachers

Day 8: My body is Not an Image

Equalizing myself as my physical body implies not suiting the ideals that I have participated and created in my mind toward it, that would be reinforcing the same system that we are here to stop reinforcing . It is about considering every single cell and what I have put my entire body through whenever I have indulged into a ‘regime’ that I have followed in the name of religions, such as when I was a vegetarian, to the point of becoming anemic for not considering the actual physical requirements to nurture my body.

I’ve walked that process in the past – however a new dimension has been added to this process of me understanding what it means to really stand equal and one as your physical body. I mean, we have become so separated from our bodies that we follow our mind-created cravings in order to satisfy what we ‘think’ is what we want or require. Just today I realized that I wanted to drink some mineral water, which is absolutely unusual to me, which implies that I didn’t ‘think myself into it’ but was an actual sensation to seeing how I had an experience of wanting something that would contain something a bit more than just plain water.

I have been experiencing the subtleties of my body that I would not experience before – yet I see the importance of now integrating the written self-corrective support that goes hand in hand with practical physical actions of, for example, integrating more variety of foods as vegetables and elements that I would not buy simply out of routine. I have lived a life wherein ‘my routine’ has become ‘my religion’ and in that, even when it comes to food it becomes almost like a subservient way of ‘giving me the least variety’ in means of austerity, somehow, yet not realizing that me existing in such limitation is just also self-interest as I am only considering how I have judged food and what I eat and how I have defined myself according to money and what I eat, which are then relationships of value and separation from what I see I am actually capable of eating/ consuming without creating any ideas of ‘being abusive’ for eating – I had just written ‘indulging’ – into a wider variety of foods.

It’s quite revealing how one can use a certain image as a means to portray ‘modesty’ and ‘humbleness’ which has permeated the simplicity that I want to portray as an image, and can still come through as clothes – simple clothes – and foods – simple foods which doesn’t meant that it is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ but I can still see that I am holding this ‘neutral experience’ toward it, which stands as a generated experience that I have limited myself within as well. It’s very cool to realize this as I have seen how one cannot really be ‘neutral’ as it is a long-standing point between both poles and still defining it according to having been living in either side of the opposite polarities.

So – the way to walk out of creating an experience form that which I eat is stopping giving it any ‘face value’ within my mind, no matter how ‘neutral’ it may seem. The moment I face resistances to open up the point implies that I am not willing to give up my ‘status quo’ which is a very familiar state for me wherein once that I’ve ‘reached’ a certain point I can remain in it without actually challenging such status quo and deliberate change the habit to learn where and how I can implement new points and solutions and physical support for myself. That’s something that I enjoyed about the farm, how points were constantly shifting wherein my usual desire to remain ‘safe’ in any given task, routine is suddenly immediately altered which forces me to re-evaluate, re-schedule and prioritize time and time again. That’s really challenging and it’s in those moments when we can face if we are really ‘stable’ and ‘unconditional’ regardless of the new situations/ events that may come up.

“Bodyshape – lol; when human beings see the word bodyshape – BODYshape is how it’s read, and attempt/try to shape the body according-to how the mind has shaped reality, and thus what exist within BODYshape is MINDshaped – where the mind takes IMAGES/PICTURES and attempt/try to shape it with/as actual physical reality that is not a Picture/Image but an actual physical existence/reality that is constantly/continuously in motion/movement according to our beingness/mind as how we express through/with/as the physical. And thus, Bodyshape has become Mindshaped and what experience the consequence is the being in/as/with the body – because the mind try shape the body according to a picture/image, like trying to stop time in the physical for the image/picture to manifest when the physical is constantly changing/in movement.
Thus, the process should be SELFshaping – assisting and supporting self to shape self up into/as Life/Living, and realise that it’s bodySHAPE – simply the shape the body is in according to self’s relationship with self and the physical, and to align self with the physical in shaping self and the body into/as equality and oneness – this is the shape that should be regarded”                                    – Sunette Spies

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to separate myself from my physical body and turning it into a single image that I have created in my mind of how it must look according to how I have imposed ‘my view’ onto reality according to how I see through the eye of the mind that places picture-presentation on top of the actual physical existence that is here as the physicality and all the relationships that are existent here as my physical body.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to disregard every single cell and part of my body that I have put strain on whenever I would deliberately follow a new belief system upon eating, without regarding its actual nutrient requirements, which eventually lead me to experience my body giving an alarm that I required meat, which is how I realized that I had to stop following a belief system wherein I would only consider my own interest on ‘not feeling guilty for killing animals’ yet being at the verge of a serious physical condition that took me time and pain to recover from in the past.

I learn from such mistakes and deliberate abuse that I imposed onto my body in order to remind me to not follow again any regime that will lead me to consequences that I am not equating as myself As the Physical body, but only at the mind value wherein I seek to make myself look better and ‘feel’ better from a mind perspective, instead of actually considering the necessary nutrients and elements that I require to consume in order to support myself as the physical body.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to define my existence as only a ‘form’ as a physical body, that I only see the skin/ surface of, without realizing that there is an entire universe of cells forming tissues, organs, systems as the entire configuration that exists as my physical body that I must consider in its totality every moment that I am indulging into food, that I quit/ stop certain foods and the physical movement that I use as regular exercise for self-support.

I realize that it is within self-interest that we can abuse and limit ourselves from proper feeding every time that we follow an ideal of what we must eat, without doing proper research within our own body, doing one point at a time, step by step to ensure that we are in fact monitoring the changes and actual physical experience with such changes, to make sure that I am not putting my body under pressure and strain that becomes imperceptible by our current separation that we have created from our physical body.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself for having imposed my values upon body image, foods and looks based on what I deemed as ‘acceptable’ within my reality, which is a mind-reality where the actual physicality that I am comprised of was absolutely neglected and overlooked when and while imposing ‘sudden’ changes within my diet, which is deliberate acts that I would do in order to satisfy a mind routine of self-fulfillment without considering at all times the actual nutritional value for my body in itself in the first place.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself for having ever disregarded the very fact that I kept a struggle during an entire lifetime with wanting to achieve a certain ‘idea’ of how I must look, without ever considering the actual structure that sustains me, as the physical constitution of my body wherein each cell is aware of even the slightest change that I create in my day to day diet.

When and as I see myself pondering about creating a change in my diet, I stop and I breathe – I make sure that the starting point is actually in order to investigate how certain meals are able to support my physical body effectively, wherein I place aside and not participate within the starting point of using certain meals to support me to ‘achieve’ getting a certain body image as the body form that I have used as an excuse and patterned ideal that has no physical consideration for who I really am as the actual physical that cannot be possibly reduced to being only an image.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to reduce myself to being only image seen through physical eyes only.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to disregard the fact that I am in constant movement and reactions as chemical processes inside me that I have become so separated from that I have neglected how the slightest indulgence, change/ alteration in my day to day living in relation to food can in fact create a disruption that I cannot even be immediately aware of, due to the extent of separation that I’ve fueled as the acceptance of who I am as a mind that seeks a ‘perfect picture presentation’ based on equally-sold picture-presentation ideals in the name of keeping ourselves entertained with and as the mind as ‘who we are,’ instead of actually stepping out of the mind-loop and get into actual physical considerations of our body as a living-organism, not a bi-dimensional picture presentation according to the standards of what I have believed will ‘make me feel better about myself’ which is linking the body image to a positive experience, like the one we get when having money and feeling ‘better’ than before.

I forgive myself that I accepted and allowed myself to manipulate my body as a image that could portray ‘modesty’ and ‘simplicity’ yet still within the starting point of creating a ‘neutral’ experience within me, which is then how I have surreptitiously kept myself in a ‘comfort zone’ when it comes to actually dealing with how I have utilized my body to fulfill an ideal of myself – which is not Real but mind-based.

I forgive myself that I have deliberately manipulated my diet in means of ‘austerity’ which stems from the entire relationship toward money wherein I created such ‘modesty’ and ‘austerity’ in relation to how I used to spend a lot more money on a wide variety of food in the past- thus I realize that it’s not about creating an experience of ‘eating cheap food’ but actually starting to remove the value as money that defines my current experience toward food, and instead consider the actual nutritional value that is entails to eat and nurture myself as my physical body.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to make of what I eat part of my daily self-religion wherein modifying what I eat seems like a sacrilege to my status quo, not realizing that within this I am only limiting myself to explore new ways of supporting myself and my physical body – mind and body equally.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to link ‘austerity’ to a ‘positive value’ within myself, without realizing that it is also an experience that I must stop in order to start reconsidering the actual nutrition points that I require to support my body in an optimum way

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to fear ‘changing my habits’ as this is part of having to ‘break my personality/ ego’ as the usual comfort and status quo that allows me to ‘play safe’ within my reality, not realizing that this can only lead to stagnation and it is a limitation to the detriment of my own process of actually realizing new points that I can incorporate and move myself toward if I direct myself to do so.

I realize that modesty and austerity are only mind-created experiences that have no physical congruency to the reality that I exist as in my physical body which cannot be fueling or be part of the life-degradations I’ve created as personalities that I have used to suit my own desires of ‘how I must look’ and ‘what I must eat’ within an entire personality idea of me being a ‘modest’ and ‘austere’  person.

I commit myself to support myself to actually live in accordance to developing an equal and one support of myself as my physical body, as my mind which I am here to re-educate in means of supporting myself as who I really am as a living being that requires to establish proper relationships with Self as the physical.

I commit myself to walk a process of learning/ educating myself further on how what I eat supports me/ doesn’t support me, based on actual experimentation that I allow myself to commit to for a couple of weeks to see how it is experienced within my physical body.

The only acceptable form/ shape of myself is as a living being that is able to live one and equal here as my physical body first, to no longer put it under any form of strain while following a certain image/ ideal based on the constrains of my mind that is currently influenced by everything that sells well in this reality.

I commit myself to start considering what my physical body is actually requiring instead of following (fall-allowing) the thoughts in my mind of why I should or should not eat something. I have to develop in practicality what ‘man know thyself’ actually means in this regard, which is an actual living process that I’m beginning from here on.

2012 Desensitizing: A Culture of Indifference

Breaking through the past by taking a more ‘open minded’ stance in societies where money dictates the trends of the world, has become humanity’s drive to ‘get rid of the past’ through consuming, transcending ‘morals’  and what is usually considered as ‘politically incorrect,’ which has become the usual way of human beings to shout out to the world: we’re not alright, yet we can ‘handle’ the truth and numb our reactions to acknowledge what is actually going on in this world through neglecting anything that goes on here and see it just as another picture shown on TV, newspapers or magazines.

Desensitizing is then from the perspective of losing all common sense as the sensual-physical reality that is here – this is done through building a nice niche for ourselves through spirituality/ god, entertainment, jobs, sports,  virtually anything and all that can allow us to escape from our reality. It seems that it doesn’t really matter what images we get to see in the media, we will simply continue digesting them like any other piece of cake, losing all sense of realizing that such war images, poverty, abuse and chaos on the streets of some other place is still part of the same Earth that we all live in = it is ourselves in fact.

With just a few seconds after I turned on the TV this evening, I got to see a mother crying because of her  one and half month old baby that died in one of the ongoing 17 days of continuous attacks in the city of Homs in Syria – another mother carries her baby that is crying, the expression in the child’s eyes was that of fear and obvious discomfort –  the fact that basic requirements are running out such as water and medicines for such cases is indeed alarming, and there is no sign of this coming to and end. “What is everyone waiting in the world? she sobs  ‘Waiting for all of us to die?’ – and through watching this I can only breathe realizing that I am a spectator of such suffering in front of a screen wondering ‘how could I not react to this?’ – however, this is our reality and manifestation and we can only get to face it by daring to just place ourselves for a moment in such shoes – would we still ‘not care’?

The great majority of the world don’t really want to SEE and REALIZE what is going on, because that would entail having to stop the ongoing ‘live to the fullest’ type of experience wherein everyone is rather busy trying to come up with the next greatest thing that can bring some form of fortune, 15 minutes of fame and hype in a world wherein everything that shines catches our attention. Self Honesty is required within each one of us to take off the blindfold. We hide the reality that is here with light, love and gold while seeing images at the same time on TV of  war, death, destruction, famine, abuse, protests, riots, cities being burnt down, political reality shows and a plethora of news can only give us the idea of there being no hope.  This has become our ‘everyday news’ and our ‘everyday living’ – it seems almost elusive to think that we could someday have an hour of news wherein not a single abusive or violent event is reported, and this is definitely a ‘utopia’ at the moment – however we know it’s possible if we step out of our accepted and allowed human misery and start realizing that the solution exists within each one of us.

We form a thick layer of skin on top of ourselves in order to cope with what we have now become ‘so used’ to – unfortunately – to see, which is violence, abuse, blood, tears, screams, images of deformed bodies in order to fit in our current ‘aesthetical standards,’ people with their brains blown out by bombs, yet having news of people making or poverty another profitable fashion game that adds on to the transformation of symbols in humanity from reality into just another trend of the year.

There is a point here wherein in this ‘drive/ desire’ to ‘evolve’ and ‘break the old patterns,’ we have lost all perspective of any value/ principle in life. Within this rule of ‘anything goes’ according to only seeing a panorama of the end times – and believing that ‘it is too fucking late now’ – people get desensitized to just accept everything that is placed in the mainstream media that rings our bells toward escapism.  We then indulge into just absorbing & digesting everything that can be labeled as culture, trends, fashion, new attitudes, adopting ‘new ways of living’ that can apparently make us ‘forget the past’ in one way or another.

We may be through with the past, but the past ain’t through with us” is a quote I just remembered from a movie, but actually got to know belongs to Bergen Evans now that I looked it up. This is to acknowledge that as much as we build layers upon ourselves to not be affected by what’s here, we cannot cover up what we are shoving under the rug at the moment. Reality is catching up on us and it’s fascinating that many people are so into the entire rollercoaster ride that haven’t given themselves the opportunity to stop for a moment, and step ‘outside’ of it to see what is it that we are in fact accepting and allowing to exist in this world.

All our effort is channeled to  live as an image, as a character, as an idea that ‘gives a message’ to the world based on what the media is providing in order to create new shit to sell – that’s the point with all trends, for example, how to make stuff obsolete within any fashion realm which not only includes clothes, but also gadgets, cars and anything that is able to have any form of ‘improvement’ in order to sell it as an upgrade. This is also applied to any positive-vibrational-love-and-lighter type of scene wherein the reality that is as raw as can be is neglected in fear of being indulging into the negative. ‘Project an image of success’ is what keeps the masks in place, while any form of foundation that once held such lies is now virtually non-existent – and by that I mean God as Money, as this entire system that is giving its lasts breaths and is only being kept with more lies. The system is ourselves, neglecting how it functions/ how its currently existing is the same as neglecting our own lives.

Is this what we want to be living as humanity? Definitely not – and this ‘carelessness’ in terms of not giving a shit anymore is becoming ‘the trend’ wherein being stupid, being shallow, being absolutely deranged is what’s ‘in.’  What I see is like the ultimate form of spitefulness toward ‘the world,’ but also to each other as a form of pointing out how – for example – kids are currently inheriting a world sunk in debt, destruction and a general crisis wherein all that is being implanted as a message through all of these marketing trends is a ‘hopelessness,’ a ‘anything goes’ or ‘who really gives a fuck’ message that eventually becomes a ‘state of being’ within young people at the moment.

This is already palpable in society – and the more we accept and allow ourselves to be alienated within it by allowing ourselves to be affected by all the messages we are consuming, the more it will become an accepted ‘state of being’ which only propagates the same bs that will make anyone seek for and remain in a sedative position – either through drugs, food, sex, entertainment, sports or ‘anything of the likes’ – which is very convenient by anyone benefiting from it ( $ )

Any form of awareness about the actuality of what is going on in this world is pointed at, crucified or ridiculed – no one really wants to hear the ‘awful truth’ – Why? because of indulging in the comfortable thoughts of ‘Oh well, what difference will it make anyways?’ – ‘Why should I do it? It’s not my fault!’ which makes it a lot easier to walk through reality, not having to stop for a moment to see how come that this system is the way it is, how come there are people lying on the streets asking for money, why is there such an imperative need to steal money to survive?’  There are no relevant sites/ media that are ‘popular’ enough to debunk the reality that we are co-creating at all levels;  this is simply because no capitalist will support anything that is debunking the very foundation that perpetuates and allows its profit to be generated.

So, the importance of exposing our popular/ mainstream reality is a cool and necessary way of getting our reality check about what we are still accepting and allowing to exist in this world – and within that, get to see who and what we have become toward these images that we see on a daily basis and have become part of our ‘culture,’ part of our ‘nature.’ Is it really so?

Ask yourself: Who and what am I in relation to the news that I get to see everyday on TV/ internet? Where do I stand toward it? Do I care? Do I see it as ‘outside of myself?’ – Is there anything I can do toward it? And if your answer to this last question is No, I suggest you investigate in Self Honesty: what is it that I am actually not willing to accept that is in my hands to stop within myself, such as the carelessness and general apathy while ‘not giving a fuck’ about anything. We have to begin by getting to care about ourselves first, to re-establish that ‘sensitivity’ as the tactile physical ability to see what is HERE as this reality.

This world has given us everything we require and even more than that – what have we done in exchange? Nothing, simply augment the consumption, abuse and disregard of anything that is here as being equally alive.

The ultimate question is not only ‘do you care?’ but: Are You Willing to be the example of what is possible to become as an actual living being that takes responsibility for what is here?

For that, we already have a place to educate yourself, we’re already walking the process of stepping out of this general sedated and jaded state of mind and have begun opening our eyes to what is really going on, which is certainly not glamorous, not pretty, not nice – yet that is exactly what we have to acknowledge as ourselves, as the points that are HERE behind the bright lights and fuzzy loving-feelings awaiting for something marvelous to just ‘change the world’ – Nothing will come and save us, nothing will change the world and we can only turn a blind eye as long as we are apparently ‘not affected.’

Let this not be a ‘it’s too late’ excuse for you to stand up and will yourself to see reality and walk the necessary process to educate yourself, to see what you are currently existing as and make a decision to Live, to consider what living in Equality can be like if we all place ourselves to establish this principle as a living reality on Earth.

This won’t be easy  – we have an entire past chain of ‘original sins’ to stop – each one of us has to do this – and the more we wait, the longer it will take to wake each other up to see what is it that we are in fact doing to ourselves while only living as disposable motion pictures seeking for a purpose in life.

It is Time to Live, I once felt lost and blind – yet I dared to open up my eyes to see that I have always been here, as myself, just immersed in a built up mind reality that was too comfortable to leave behind  – yet I realized I could not hide any longer – this is it.
